Ballyclare Rugby Club

Currently the 1st XV have put a decent run together after a shaky start to the league. 5 wins from the last 7 games including a good recent win over CIYMS.
In the Town’s Cup and Junior Cup they have been drawn away to local rivals Larne on both occasions.
Congratulations to Willy Logan, Warren McClean, Terry Moore and Colin Morrow who all played for Ulster Juniors during the Inter Pros.
The 2nd XV have also put together an excellent run after 2 early setbacks in the Junior 1 league and are second to Ballynahinch.
The 3rd’s have had a disappointing start to their league campaign while the 4th XV are steadily improving.
The 5th XV enjoyed success with 4 Fijian players in their ranks and recently beat Malone in the Cup.
As always ,Youth rugby continues to flourish at The Cloughan on Saturday mornings with Mini, Maxi and Micro rugby covering all age groups.

Templepatrick
Cricket Club

The 1st XI finished 5th out of 10 in the league with a very young side as some of the more experienced players were not fully available last year. This proved to be an asset and bodes well for the future with many prospects shining through.

John Busby became the youngest ever player to pick up personal performance awards at the age of 15 with 6 wickets for 14 runs in one game and 4 for 9 in another game, including a hat-trick.

The 2nd XI had a consistent season throughout and finished second while the 3rd XI finished in 3rd. Both teams being in league contention all season.
The Under 19’s were the most successful of the Youth sides. They made it to the semi-final of the cup beating Woodvale and Instonians along the way only to fall to a strong Armagh team.
Congratulations to Robert Smith who was selected for the N. Ireland U12 team that beat the Southern U12’s.

In preparation this year, 4 senior teams are entered into the league along with U17’s, U15’s, U13’s and U11’s.

School Rugby

The 1st XV have been drawn away to Portora in the first round of the Schools Cup while the strong Medallion side have been drawn against another strong side in Methody.
Congratulations to Jamie McGrugan on his selection for the Ulster Schools team and good luck with the Irish Trial.

School Tours

The School Rugby Club are currently organising a tour to Canada for June 2002. This major school event, as before, will be a great opportunity for the pupils to travel and experience their sport in other countries. As part of the fund raising they are joining up with The OBA to run an IRISH NITE on Saturday 15th March. Tickets are 10 and for those you were at the last one a few years ago, you can be assured of a good night.
The Hockey Club are also putting their tour itinery together as they are looking to visit Italy.
Both sports are currently fund raising to ensure quality experiences are achieved and the OBA is glad to say that we support both parties in their finances.

Ballyclare Ladies Hockey Club

The 1st XI and are now playing in Senior 2 , and are already staking a claim for Senior 1. They are currently second in the league with the top two teams being promoted at the end of the season. So here’s hoping.
At this stage in the league the 2nd’s have claimed full points in their games and have scored 32 goals while only conceding 1. Success again is a possibility if they can sustain this effort and statistic.
The 3rd’s are in the top half of their league while the 4th XI and Veteran’s all have a long way to go in their leagues.
Congratulations go to Laura McAlpine who at the age of 14 has secured a place in the Ulster U16 Team and everyone wishes her all the best for the forthcoming representative games.
Ballyclare Badminton Club
The 'A' team are playing in the premier section of the Ulster League, drawing in their first match with CIYMS at the National Badminton Centre, Lisburn. The 'B' team lost to a strong Clougher Valley team in their opening Div 2 match.
The club meets at the 4 court, sports hall in the school on a Wednesday nights 7.30-10.30pm. New members are invited to come along for both competitive play or recreational play.
