Cricket Club |
The 1st XI
finished 5th out of 10 in the league with a very young side as some of the more
experienced players were not fully available last year. This proved to be an asset and
bodes well for the future with many prospects shining through. |
John Busby
became the youngest ever player to pick up personal performance awards at the age of 15
with 6 wickets for 14 runs in one game and 4 for 9 in another game, including a hat-trick.
|
| The 2nd XI had a consistent
season throughout and finished second while the 3rd XI finished in 3rd. Both teams being
in league contention all season. |
| The Under 19s were the
most successful of the Youth sides. They made it to the semi-final of the cup beating
Woodvale and Instonians along the way only to fall to a strong Armagh team. |
| Congratulations to Robert Smith
who was selected for the N. Ireland U12 team that beat the Southern U12s. |
In preparation
this year, 4 senior teams are entered into the league along with U17s, U15s,
U13s and U11s. |
|
School Rugby |
| The 1st XV have been drawn away to Portora in the first
round of the Schools Cup while the strong Medallion side have been drawn against another
strong side in Methody. |
| Congratulations to Jamie McGrugan on his selection for the
Ulster Schools team and good luck with the Irish Trial. |
|
School Tours |
| The School Rugby Club are currently organising a tour to
Canada for June 2002. This major school event, as before, will be a great opportunity for
the pupils to travel and experience their sport in other countries. As part of the fund
raising they are joining up with The OBA to run an IRISH NITE on Saturday 15th
March. Tickets are 10 and for those you were at the last one a few years ago, you can be
assured of a good night. |
| The Hockey Club are also putting their tour itinery
together as they are looking to visit Italy. |
| Both sports are currently fund raising to ensure quality
experiences are achieved and the OBA is glad to say that we support both parties in their
finances. |

Ballyclare Ladies Hockey Club |
| The 1st XI and are now playing in Senior 2 , and are
already staking a claim for Senior 1. They are currently second in the league with the top
two teams being promoted at the end of the season. So heres hoping. |
| At this stage in the league the 2nds have claimed
full points in their games and have scored 32 goals while only conceding 1. Success again
is a possibility if they can sustain this effort and statistic. |
| The 3rds are in the top half of their league while
the 4th XI and Veterans all have a long way to go in their leagues. |
| Congratulations go to Laura McAlpine who at the age of 14
