-- Leagues and Cup competitions --

Ballyclare Rugby Club

The game on everyone’s lips as this mag is going to print is the forthcoming Junior Cup Final , Ballyclare against Carrick.
This is the 3rd time Ballyclare have made the Final, having won it in 1988.
A tough draw has seen them fend off Omagh, Inst II, Dungannon II, and Coleraine so all the best at Ravenhill on Saturday 27th April.
In the League a mid table place was secured.
The 2nd XV won the Crawford Cup against Queens II for the 4th season in an row. A tense, nail biter saw Ballyclare edge out as 20-19 winners.
In Junior 1 a top 4 place was attained.
The 3rd XV were disappointed to finish mid table in Junior 2 while the 4th XV have finished in the top half of Junior 3.
The 5th XV have struggled this year in Minor 1.
The U 14’s had a strong team this year and the Under 20’s improved as the season progressed although a strong Ards team put an end to any silverware .

The development of new sandbased, floodlight, pitches behind the clubhouse has been a major investment this year and will be in operation in 2004.

Mayfair Saturday sees Ballyclare host the largest Mini Rugby tournament in Ulster with teams flocking from all over the Province.

Templepatrick
Cricket Club

Last season the 1st XI retained their Section 3 by finishing 6th in their first season there, the highest level the club have ever played at. Captain Artie Campbell is currently preparing his squad with indoor practice at Ballyclare Leisure Centre on Fridays evenings.

The 2nd, 3rd & 4th XI’s will again have full league and cup fixtures and with the standard of players at their disposal should be looking to have successful seasons.

Youth cricket will again feature highly in the TCC programme with the Under 19 team playing Woodvale in the Colts Cup, the Under 15 and Under 13 teams playing in the strong East Antrim

and the Under 11’s looking to retain the Quoile Cup.
Congratulations to John Busby who has been selected for the NCU U15 squad .
Any one interested in further information should contact Andy McCrea.

The big second row looks to have a promising future in the game so we wish him all the best .
Congratulations also to Stephen Morrow, who along with Lewis was selected for the Ulster Schools side.
A further rugby recognition goes to recent leaver Andy Lowe who played for Ireland U19’s in a recent competition in Italy.
The 1st XV were beaten at Ravenhill in the Shield Final by Coleraine Inst.
A new addition to school has been the show jumping team who recently competed in their first gymkhana .

The OBA are glad to say that they assisted with funding in diversifying extra curricular options.

Ballyclare Ladies Hockey Club

The hockey club continue to progress with the 1st XI finishing 3rd in their first season in Senior 2. Missing out on promotion by 1 point. They also played in the Senior Plate final, being beaten 1-0 by Belfast Harlequins who finished 3rd in Senior 1
The 2nd’s and 3rd’s both won their league and move into Intermediate 1 and 3 respectively.
The 4th XI’s and Veterans could not match the high standard set by the other teams and both completed the season without silverware.
Congratulations to Sharon Moffitt, who as goalkeeper, was selected for the Ulster U21 team and is currently in contention for the Irish U21 squad. We wish her all the best.
This is the most successful season for a long time which is saying something considering that there has been quite a lot of success in recent years.
